Why We Chose Hotel XCaret:

We want our wedding to be a relaxing vacation and exciting experience for everyone involved! Hotel Xcaret is all-inclusive with food, drink, and transportation coverage but also includes tons of excursions to different parks (with snorkeling, wildlife, caves, ziplining, rafting, etc.), free transport across the way for a day at Isla Mujeres, and even visits to Chichen Itza if desired. This resort is safe, beautiful, and full of opportunities for its guests. To top it off, Hotel Xcaret supports different areas and artisans of Mexico with its furniture, art work, and decor, all while simultaneously preserving the natural environment and sustaining wildlife that lives on the hotel grounds. We fell in love during our short stay here and are delighted to share these moments and make memories with our loved ones as we celebrate our marriage.

Kate's Picks

For Fun & Adventure:

Hop on a kayak by yourself or with a loved one and meander through the lagoons. Then walk around the resort through the various trails where you will spot iguanas, red macaws, and flamingos. Head up the Spiral temple for a breathtaking view along the way.

For Eats:

El Mercado is tried and true for a delicious breakfast with a buffet styled, market themed ambience. A kind server will get you any drink you'd like from a fresh squeezed juice to a flavored mimosa.

Bio Cafe for lunch is my favorite place to eat that I have tried! The cafe is in a cave in the lagoons and while it is a vegan restaurant, don't let that word fool you. The food tastes incredible and is a nice break from fried heavy foods to keep you feeling light for the rest of your day.

For Relaxation:

Grab a drink at the swim up bar and head to the end of the infinity pool to sit and sip. Alternatively, head to Las Playas beach bar below the infinity pool, order a frozen drink, and take it with you to the lagoon area where you can take a dip in the water and enjoy the sounds of a natural waterfall.

Pro Tips:

-There is an ATM on the grounds if you need cash but we recommend to bring a big pile of ones for tipping at the bar or restaurants.

-Your room usually is not ready until 3 PM. If you arrive to the resort before then you can drop off your luggage at check-in and bring a small backpack to carry with you while you go enjoy the grounds.

-You will get a fancy wristband at check-in that you use to get into your room and can use across the resort and at parks at picture taking spots that take selfies for you. This is how we got our picture together that is on our home page of this site!

Stephen's Picks

For Fun: For something quick, book one of the complimentary kayaks or paddle boats in the lagoon! If you want to spend the day out and about, book a visit at one of the other Xcaret parks! Do some zip lining at Xplor, or go spelunking at Xenotes.

For Eats: Like Kate said, you can't beat El Mercado. It's perfect for trying as many tastes as possible on one empty stomach! We also loved Cantina Los Faroles, it's an upscale scene that offers traditional Oaxacan cuisine - make sure to stay for the evening light show!

For Relaxation: Research has shown that it's impossible to be stressed when you're sitting at a swim-up bar (I recommend the mojito). For a more rejuvenating experience, head to the spa! Make sure to book a reservation in advance. To enjoy a unique view of the resort, head to the gym on the 4th floor of Casa Viento for some open-air yoga.

Pro Tips: Make sure to purchase the Xelfie Photo Pass! The park is full of prime photo shots that you can take in a snap, but you need the package to access and download them. Also, don't forget to get a free COVID swab at the park before leaving for the airport! You'll probably need one to fly back home, and I can bet it's more enjoyable at the resort than at the airport.
